After an initial request from Dr Steven Wainwright, I was asked to look at the possibility of connecting a Web cam to a 35mm, M42 thread camera lens and to have it mountable on a tripod. So I set about designing this adapter. The two things I had to consider were, to allow the camera to be used at infinity when the lens was set on that mark and secondly when the setup is complete that the 1/4 Whitworth thread is directly underneath. With this in mind I made a three part adapter, firstly you may adjust the focal length and then lock it in position and secondly you can turn the mounting ring 360 degrees and lock it in any position suitable to your tripod or piggy back mount. Initial trials at wide field shots have proved very encouraging.
